romanian version The Ethnography Museum wishes to offer you a synthesis of the rural traditional life specific to the south-eastern Transylvania on display in the exibition halls of Brasov, Sacele, Rupea, the last two being subordinate museums to the departamental one. The Ethnography Museam is made up of four departments which follow the tematic configuration of the present museum, the esential features, the way in which it was constituted and developed, the place where it stands. There is an ample permanent exhibition in Brasov which illustrates the essential features of a peasant areas of the County of Brasov (The Fagaras County, the Rupea area as well as The Bars County and the Bran area), stressing the display of the interior of a house with everything it holds, woven stuff, pottery, furniture, icons on glass, and also showing the specific costume, which is percieved as a mark of local identity. The second department presents habitual features, characteristic for the town, having on display a reconstituted old chemist's shop, a medieval inn, handicraftsmen shops and an urban habitation. The third and the fourth departments are to be found in the two subordinate museums of Sacele and Rupea and they show off local features. |
