- Context:
- Minorities and majority cultural patrimony represents a fundamental element for a better knowledge and mutual understanding. Museum is modelling them in the spirit of feeling the differences and perception of these differences. Thus museum becomes an instrument mediator for interethnic and European cultural relations.
- A museum is both a way of knowledge and also communication, and it has functions on defining individual and cultural identities - acting in double sense:
- cultural catalyst in communities in which it works.
- an institution generating relations, links and ways of dialogue.
- The triangle museum - school - civil society acts as a united complex and educates the communitarian and civil aspect - permitting the individual to surpass the particular cultural identities and enter into a European cultural system.
- A museum offers opening to universality, surpassing segmental cultural opinions through an interdisciplinary approach. Museum offers knowledge of identities, of what is specific and common, what are the similitude and differences for different ethno-cultural profiles. Museum aims to bring nearer people and cultures and presents the unity of European cultural values.
- Activities:
- Educational programmes inside and outside of school designed for a mutual knowledge - promoting ethno-cultural values in an educational system. Developing educational projects inside and outside museum (educational function).
- Museum works as a lab and research instrument for the interethnic dimension of village from Transylvania and Banat (scientific function).
- Museum is redefined as a cultural context centred on interethnic dimension, considered from social, cultural, historical and religious point of view (communitarian function).
- Museum is context for communitarian dialogue, in its ethnical and cultural diversity.
