Byzantine Mosaic from the 11th Century Discovered During the Archaeological Excavations at the Former Bizere Monastery (11th- 16th Centuries)

 

 

 

 

          A Byzantine mosaic from the 11th century was discovered during the archaeological excavations at the former Bizere Monastery (11th – 16th centuries), near Arad, in the location of "Fântâna Turcului" (Turk's Well), close to the locality of Frumuseni, on the left bank of Mures River.
The research team: dr. Adrian Andrei Rusu (Institute of Archaeology and Art History in Cluj-Napoca), drd. George Pascu Hurezan (Arad County Museum Complex), dr. Peter Hugel (Arad County Museum Complex), drd. Ileana Burnichioiu ("1 Decembrie" University in Alba lulia).
